Happy Now

Poem 3 of 3,ย  Poem 1 is Once and Forever in my mind and poem 2 is Haunted by you

I’m happy now
With someone who loves me
Adores me
Not that you didn’t
Dysfunction was our game
I’m with somebody
He treats me right
Loves me for me, all of me
He doesn’t feed my disease
It’s not your fault
We were both sick
Searching to be rescued
Finding comfort in broken pieces
And yet
You creep into my mind
Play with my fantasies
Make me miss you
I’m happy now
Yet I long for you
I’m happy now
And yet I miss you
Unspoken bond
Knowing without words
Chaotic passion
You broke me
Destroyed me
I loved you
And yet I still do

  1. I love the poem … it perfectly evokes that scratching of an old scar that we do even when we are fundementally happy. I guess it is the fact that we shall never know that makes us look back. Oddly though your title was what drew me first … I have been researching ‘Cinderella Complex’ as first pinpointed in her book by Colette Dowling and then reading Cendrillon (as she is called in French) in a quest to get a grip of what the problem is with my 28 year old stepson who is causing me many headaches … odd the roads that lead us to enjoy something. Thank you – you haven’t solved the issues with the offending young man but you have described the feeling I have for one particular relationship way way back rather perfectly ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you! Sorry about your 28 year old stepson. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps ๐Ÿ™‚ What is the Cinderella Complex? Is it like the “Cinderella Effect” where women struggle with their identity because their identity has been created for them?

      • Oh it will we will find a way through! Cinderella Complex is actually a fear of independence, an unconscious desire to be looked after. There is a total lack of ability to take personal responsibility. It is, I beleive, normally caused from infancy by over-protective parenting and made worse by the fact that a ‘vulnerable’ girl will be attractive to a controlling boy. It is solely attributed to women which I, personally, think is garbage! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Interesting concept. I agree it is garbage to solely attribute it to women. Many men love to feed the whole princess fantasy. It feeds peoples needs to be rescued and to be the rescuer. I have also known a few men who suffer from the Cinderella complex.

    • I like the “time to let go” ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree it is time to let go, just every now and then he creeps into my mind. And social media makes it so much easier for those exs (friends and lovers) to find us and for us to find them. Even without social media, I think he’d still creep in. There always seems to be one, the first love that invoke strong feelings, good and bad.
