website update- Rejected Revenge!

I spent over 5 years working with developmentally disabled adults.  Many of them did not have the language skills to communicate.  I often wondered if even though they couldn’t communicate if they had deep and intricate thoughts?  Furthermore, throughout my time in the field I would hear horror stories from staff who had been in the field forever about the horrible abuse perpetrated on the developmentally disabled.  Not only did staff tell horror stories but clients and family members of clients.
I took these stories and the notion that the developmentally disabled are deeper and more complex than we will ever know.  The idea of what happens when the broken, lost, discarded and damned are forced to exist together.   When one patient finally snaps and exacts her revenge for the years of pain, torment and suffering, not only hers but all those who don’t have a voice for themselves.
